Through 600 pm, scattered showers and thunderstorms will wax and wane across the Florida Keys as well as the adjacent nearshore and offshore coastal waters, with the strongest storms located in the western distant Straits of Florida and in the Florida Bay through Alligator Reef Light. This activity will move generally to the northwest near 15 knots. Mariners encountering the stronger activity can expect wind gusts up to 30 knots, reduced visibilities in heavy downpours, and a few cloud to surface lightning strikes. Rainfall amounts over land should generally be less than one quarter of an inch, but may be between a quarter to a half of an inch from Craig Key to Tavernier. $$ NB
