670 FXUS65 KLKN 210843 AFDLKN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Elko NV 143 AM PDT Sat Sep 21 2024 .SYNOPSIS...Skies will remain mostly sunny through the weekend as upper ridging builds into the area. This will bring quiet and dry conditions through the end of the next week. Winds will be occasionally breezy during the afternoons. && .SHORT TERM...Today through Sunday. It is a very quiet night across northern and central Nevada this morning. Mid and high clouds can be seen in central Nevada while the rest of the forecast area is under mainly clear skies. For today, upper level low pressure will continue its eastward slide across Arizona and across the four corners area. Upper level ridging will be in control of the weather through the short term for the area. Highs will generally be in the 70s in the afternoon with overnight lows in the 30s and 40s. Skies will be mostly sunny and the weather will be dry with occasional gusts in the 20 mph range in the short term. .LONG TERM...Monday through next Friday Look for more fair weather throughout the week as an upper level ridge begins to move and strengthen over the western U.S. as the off-cut-low heads further east leaving more stable atmosphere and sunshine. High temperatures start off cool in the 70s across the region on Monday with a slight warming trend over Tuesday and Wednesday, making highs reach back into the upper 70s and 80s, followed by a slight cooling trend for the rest of the week, keeping temperatures in the 70s and low 80s. Overnight lows will see slight changes in temperatures as well but stay in the 40s to low 50s throughout the week. Winds Monday expected to be breezy from the northwest at 15-20 mph over northeastern Elko County, light everywhere else. Winds for the rest of the week will be light at 10 mph or lower. && .AVIATION...VFR condtions expected at all terminals over the next 24 hour period. HZ conditions over KELY could lower to MVFR. Elevated winds for all terminals up to 10 kts with gusty winds up to 18-20 kts for KTPH and KWMC. && .FIRE WEATHER...Upper level ridging will bring quiet weather conditions across the fire district through the weekend and into next week. Temperatures will be seasonable with afternoon gusts in the 20s mph range. Minimum relative humidity values will be at or above the 10 to 20 percent range. && .LKN Watches/Warnings/Advisories...
