747 FNUS53 KMQT 081003 FWFMQT FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN National Weather Service Marquette MI 603 AM EDT Sat Jun 8 2024 ...Showers Return Today, Possible Storms This Afternoon/Evening... .DISCUSSION: Cloud cover will continue to increase today as showers move in from the west. These showers will continue their eastward progression into central Upper michigan this morning, reaching the eastern third of Upper Michigan this afternoon. A cold front combined with lake breezes could yield a few thunderstorms this afternoon and evening, mainly across the central and eastern portions of the U.P. A soaking rainfall is not expected from these showers and storms. With highs topping off around the upper 50s to low 70s, minimum RHs are expected in the upper 30s to 40s over the west half with 50s over the east. This will be accompanied by northwest winds of 10 to 15 mph this afternoon. While a brief lull or weak period of showers is expected overnight, chances for showers continue overnight into Sunday. RHs are expected to make a near full recovery overnight and mainly stay above 50% on Sunday. With high pressure building in from the northwest Sunday night and continuing through early next week, dry weather returns. Some breezy north winds are expected on Sunday, gusting up to 20 to 30 mph. Strongest winds are forecasted over the east half of the U.P.
