401 FZNT32 KNHC 161524 OFFN21 Marine Weather HF Voice Broadcast NWS National Hurricane Center Miami, FL 1124 AM EDT Sun Jun 16 2024 Marine Weather HF Voice Broadcast for the Gulf of Mexico Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico .SYNOPSIS...A broad low to middle level cyclonic circulation, a Central American Gyre, is currently over southern Mexico and Central America. The gyre center is expected to persist through the middle of this week, while shifting WNW to NW into the SW Gulf of Mexico. A broad area of low pressure is forecast to form from this system over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico in a day or two. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression could form by midweek while it moves slowly westward or west-northwestward. Active convection across the southeast Gulf, along with increasing winds to gale-force and rough seas, is expected to shift westward with this system Mon evening through the middle part of the week, impacting the south-central and northwest Gulf.
