133 FNUS55 KPUB 210911 FWFPUB Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado National Weather Service Pueblo Co 311 AM MDT Fri Jun 21 2024 .Discussion... Critical fire weather is not expected for the next 7 days, thanks mostly to increased humidity values today and tomorrow and weak wind patterns through the rest of the extended forecast. Another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected over and near the mountains today, some of which could be strong to severe. The main risk with storms today will be excessive rainfall and localized flash flooding, especially for our burn scars. Expected rainfall totals from early this morning through early Saturday morning ranges from around 1.8 inches over the San Juans, to around a half an inch over the Sangres. Other risks with stronger storms today will be damaging winds gusting to 60 mph, hail up to 1 inch in diameter, and lightning. A warming and drying trend begins Saturday, which will lead to less thunderstorm coverage, and overall less meaningful rainfall out of any storms that manage to develop through the weekend as well. Temperatures look to continue to warm as we head into the beginning of next week, with very hot and dry conditions expected for Monday, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday depending on timing of our next weather system. The good news is that winds look to remain too weak to warrant any fire weather headlines as we head into next week. Afternoon smoke dispersions will be very good or better over the plains today, with fair or better for most zones over the high country. Dispersions worsen tomorrow, though most zones are still good or better for tomorrow afternoon. --- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds --- COZ220-212215- Upper Arkansas River Valley Including Lake County and Chaffee County- 311 AM MDT Fri Jun 21 2024 .TODAY...
