...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM OVER THE WATERS...

The areas affected include...
  Coastal Waters OF Northwestern Puerto Rico out 10 NM...
  Coastal Waters OF Southwestern Puerto Rico out 10 NM...
  Mona Passage Southward to 17N...

At 539 PM AST, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm,
capable of producing winds to around 25 knots. This thunderstorm was
located over the waters of the Mona Channel west of Mayaguez, moving
west at 10 knots.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 25 knots, locally higher
waves, frequent lightning strikes, and heavy downpours. Boaters
should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes.

Intense lightning is occurring with this storm. If caught on the open
water stay below deck if possible, keep away from ungrounded metal
objects.
