Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Sacramento CA
230 AM PDT Sun Sep 22 2024

.Synopsis...
Warm and dry weather continues with breezy north winds at times
for the Sacramento Valley and adjacent foothills. Elevated fire
weather concerns will be possible Monday and Tuesday.

&&

.Discussion...
Warm and dry pattern continues for NorCal the next several days as
high pressure builds in from the eastern Pacific. High temps will
be above average with readings in the 90s across the lower
elevations, and some areas may reach triple digits on Monday and
Tuesday with offshore flow resulting in widespread Moderate
HeatRisk.

Northerly flow aloft will support some locally breezy north winds
in the valley again today, mainly in the late-morning and
afternoon, which will continue to gradually lower humidity. A
little stronger north wind will be possible Monday into early
Tuesday which combined with low RH will result in elevated fire
weather conditions.

By Wednesday, ridging is forecast to shift east as a weak trough
develops over the region bringing increased onshore flow, cooler
temperatures and higher humidity.

&&

.EXTENDED DISCUSSION (Thursday THROUGH Sunday)...
Upper ridging over interior NorCal is suppressed through the
remainder of the week into the weekend as series of short wave
troughs progress through the PacNW. Dry weather expected with
seasonable temperatures.

&&

below 12 kts except vcnty of Delta, SWly sfc wind up to 15 kts at
