...New AVIATION...

.UPDATE...
Issued at 756 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024

Current forecast for tonight is on track with only
a few minor adjustments needed.

&&

.SHORT TERM...
(Thru Tonight)
Issued at 117 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024

A quiet afternoon and night is in store with ridging aloft in
control. Lows should be a touch cooler with less cloud cover
around overnight.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Saturday through Friday)
Issued at 117 PM CDT Fri Jun 21 2024

South to southwest winds will pick up ahead of a weak boundary on
Saturday. The strongest gusts will be in the morning to midday
hours, backing off slightly in the afternoon. A low level thermal
ridge over the central High Plains will expand east ahead of the
boundary, allowing afternoon highs to climb into the low to mid
90s. The weak boundary may set off an isolated shower or storm
near the KS border Saturday evening and maybe over NW AR on Sunday,
but I wouldn`t count on any rain with mid-level ridging in control.
The warming trend will continue into Sunday and Monday, and likely
persisting into Tuesday, with heat headlines coming. The ridge
shifts west by the middle of next week, with stronger N to NWrly
flow developing aloft. A disturbance could bring storm chances as
early at Tuesday, but the better chances look to be with a front
Tuesday night into Wednesday, possibly bringing some brief relief
from the heat for Thursday.

VFR conditions expected for all sites through the forecast period.
Southerly winds increase by Saturday afternoon with gusts as high

evening and into the overnight hours with perhaps some scattered
showers along the boundary near the OK-KS border. Notable flight
impacts are not expected at this time.
