Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Las Vegas NV
1254 PM PDT Sat Sep 21 2024

.SYNOPSIS...High pressure will build over the region this upcoming
week. Conditions will be dry while temperatures climb several
degrees above normal.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Through next Saturday.

Any light showers that may be over far northeast Mohave County this
afternoon will likely end by 6 pm MST as the upper low moves east
through the Four Corners region. Elsewhere today, temperatures have
been very comfortable with just some shallow cumulus forming over
the higher terrain.

Model simulations yesterday were still in the camp that our region
would feel more of the affects from the passage of a trough moving
through UT/CO early in the week. Last nights 00Z, and now the latest
12Z simulations have backed off, now moving the trough further north
and east. This is reflected in the temperatures with the Las Vegas
forecast on Tuesday now 97, versus 92 yesterday. Under the influence
of a stronger ridge this upcoming week will be dry with above normal
temperatures. Moderate HeatRisk returns to the Mojave Desert,
particularly the Lake Mead NRA, lower Colorado River and Death
Valley NP.

.AVIATION...For Harry Reid...Diurnal winds generally 4-7 knots
knots can be expected through Sunday with east-southeast components
in the afternoon and southwest components overnight. No significant
clouds.

For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast
California...Diurnal winds generally 10 knots or less can be
expected at TAF sites across the region. FEW-SCT afternoon clouds
will develop over the higher terrain of southern Nevada and
northwest ARizona with bases 12-14 kft MSL.

&&

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report
any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating
procedures.
