Subject: New NOAA Weather Radio All Hazards (NWR) Broadcast
begins from Station WZ2559, Enterprise, Oregon: Effective on or
about October 1, 2024

Effective on or about October 1, 2024, NWR service will begin
from a new transmitter located in Enterprise, Oregon. Station
WZ2559, operating on a frequency of 162.425 Megahertz and served
by the Pendleton, Oregon Weather Forecast Office (WFO), will
begin a 24-hour broadcast of weather forecasts and weather
warnings to better serve the residents of Wallowa County, the
many residents and visitors to the Nez Perce Wallowa Homeland,
the Eagle Cap Wilderness, Hells Canyon National Recreation Area
and Wallowa Lake in northeastern Oregon. Because of topography,
these areas previously had limited NWR reception from Station
WXL95, located in Spout Springs.

Emergency Alert System (EAS) participants currently monitoring
other NWR transmitters for weather warnings for Wallowa County
should check if the new Enterprise transmitter provides better
reception.

NWR listeners using receivers equipped with Specific Area
Message Encoding (SAME) will want to program in the appropriate
SAME location code to receive automated notifications for
weather warnings.
