775 WWUS81 KBUF 261824 SPSBUF Special Weather Statement National Weather Service Buffalo NY 224 PM EDT Wed Jun 26 2024 NYZ019>021-261930- Chautauqua NY-Cattaraugus NY-Allegany NY- 224 PM EDT Wed Jun 26 2024 ...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN CATTARAUGUS...SOUTHERN CHAUTAUQUA AND SOUTHERN ALLEGANY COUNTIES THROUGH 330 PM EDT... At 223 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 6 miles north of Conneaut to near Lottsville to near Smethport. Movement was northeast at 20 mph. HAZARD...Very heavy rainfall within slow moving storms. These storms will also have the potential to become severe with damaging winds and large hail possible. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Should these storms intensify, strong winds could cause damage to roofs, siding, and trees and large hail could cause damage to vehicles. Heavy rain could cause localized flooding. Locations impacted include... Jamestown, Olean, Salamanca, Wellsville, Allegany State Park, Lakewood, Falconer, Allegany, Mayville, Clymer, Cuba, Long Point State Park, Jamestown West, Weston Mills, Frewsburg, St. Bonaventure, Chautauqua Institution, Whitesville, Findley Lake, and Chautauqua. This includes the following highways... Interstate 90 near exit 61. Interstate 86 between exits 4 and 27, and near exit 29. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways. These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio stations and available television stations for additional information and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
