Weather Summary for Iowa
National Weather Service Des Moines IA
345 AM CDT Sun Sep 15 2024

Today:

Areas of fog had developed early this morning, primarily over the
central part of the state, with visibility under a mile in a few
places. Otherwise, the sky was variable ranging from clear to some low
or high clouds. Temperatures were in the low to middle 60s with a
light to calm wind.

Any patchy morning fog will dissipate and give way to sunshine this
morning. This sunshine will mix with clouds, especially over eastern
Iowa where a few showers or storms may occur this afternoon before
ending early this evening.

Tonight and beyond:

The forecast through the early part of the week keeps lows in the 60s
and highs in the 80s, which is about 10 degrees above normal for mid-
September. Mainly dry conditions will prevail as well. Rainfall
chances slowly increase over western Iowa midweek into late week,
gradually spreading eastward with time.
