Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
448 PM CDT Fri Jun 28 2024

It was a hot and humid day across the Central Plains this afternoon
as heat indices exceeding 110 degrees were present across portions
of south central Kansas and Oklahoma. Winds were breezy and skies
were mostly clear across Kansas, while showers and storms made their
way across portions of Iowa and Minnesota.

Tonight, additional showers and storms are expected to develop along
a frontal boundary extending from the High Plains of Colorado to the
Great Lakes region. Some storms in Kansas may become severe, with
damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph and heavy rains being the primary
concerns. Otherwise, low temperatures are expected to range from the
middle 50s across northern Nebraska to the lower 80s across Texas
and Oklahoma. Winds will be relatively light.

Near normal temperatures are forecast to return to the Central
Plains on Saturday, with highs ranging from the middle to upper 70s
across Nebraska to the lower to middle 90s across Kansas and
Missouri. Breezy winds are once again expected during the daytime
hours across much of the region.
