579 FXUS64 KSJT 240507 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 1207 AM CDT Mon Jun 24 2024 ...New AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Monday) Issued at 214 PM CDT Sun Jun 23 2024 High pressure will continue to slowly build across the region. Hot and dry conditions will result. A few areas will likely see the triple digits across the region this afternoon into early next week as the temperatures will continue on an upward trend. && .LONG TERM... (Monday night through next Sunday) Issued at 238 PM CDT Sun Jun 23 2024 The 500mb ridge will continue to be the main feature driving weather conditions through the upcoming week. The ridge should build in over Texas with heights topping out at 592 dam, while 850mb temperatures look to be in the 18-22 deg C range, pushing to 24 deg C by midweek. As a result, afternoon temperatures are expected to be in the upper 90s to around 100 to start the week, then reach the 100- 105 degree range for Wednesday and Thursday. Southerly surface flow should also keep humidity levels up, with dewpoints of 65-70 expected. Overnight lows will likely be in the upper 70s due to the muggy conditions. One potential limiting factor, given the steady low-level moisture, could be lingering cloud cover from nightly stratus decks that may occur from the Concho Valley southward. These areas may end up being several degrees cooler than areas north of the Concho Valley. Towards the end of the week, models show the ridge starting to break down as a cold front drops into Oklahoma and north Texas. Chances for rain still look fairly low at this time, but this will monitored over the next couple of days. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1202 AM CDT Mon Jun 24 2024 Satellite images and surface observations indicate mostly clear skies across the CWA late tonight. Expect VFR conditions to prevail across west central Texas early Monday morning through Mon afternoon as the 500mb ridge across most of the state of Texas provides subsidence across the area. Winds will be light and variable overnight into Mon morning. Light southerly winds will prevail across the area through Mon afternoon. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
