Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Angelo TX
1228 AM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024

...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Wednesday)
Issued at 251 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024

Main concern in the short term is the heat, with a heat advisory
issued for Wednesday afternoon.

Upper ridge remains entrenched across west Texas through the short
term, with afternoon highs continuing to climb into the upper 90s
to around 100 degrees. Increasing low level moisture across the
eastern counties will lead to heat index values in the 103 to 107
range, mainly east of a Brady to Coleman to Albany line tomorrow
afternoon. Have issued a heat advisory, which may need to be
extended into Thursday.

&&

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through next Tuesday)
Issued at 152 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024

Hot and dry conditions will continue across West Central Texas
through the extended forecast. An upper level ridge will continue to
dominate the weather across much of Texas, including West Central
Texas, resulting in above normal temperatures. Highs will generally
be in the upper 90s to 104, with overnight lows in the 70s. Heat
index values on Thursday may approach Heat Advisory criteria again
across our eastern counties, but should be slightly lower than what
is forecast on Wednesday. No rain is forecast through the beginning
of next week.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1224 AM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024

Similarly to yesterday, mostly VFR conditions will prevail across
West Central Texas terminals through Wednesday evening. Some
patchy MVFR cigs will be possible for a few hours after sunrise
across the southern locations, but should quickly lift and
dissipate. Otherwise, light south to southeast winds will prevail,
occasionally gusting up around 20 mph during daylight hours.
