The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Central into Northeast Kansas
Western into North-Central Oklahoma
Eastern Texas Panhandle
* Effective this Saturday afternoon and evening from 320 PM until
1100 PM CDT.
* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging winds likely with isolated significant gusts
to 75 mph possible
Isolated large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible
SUMMARY...Thunderstorm coverage and intensity is expected to
increase this afternoon and evening as a cold front moves into the
warm, moist, and unstable environment in place from the Texas
Panhandle into northeast Kansas. Some isolated hail is possible,
particularly during the afternoon, but the primary threat this
afternoon and evening will be strong to severe wind gusts from 60 to
75 mph.
The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 65
statute miles north and south of a line from 115 miles west
southwest of Alva OK to 35 miles east southeast of Manhattan KS. For

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

AVIATION...A few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft to
1.5 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 65 knots. A
