...FLOOD WATCH WILL EXPIRE AT 6 AM MDT EARLY THIS MORNING...

The Flood Watch will expire for portions of central, east central,
north central, northeast, and southeast New Mexico, including the
following areas, in central New Mexico, Central Highlands, Eastern
Lincoln County, Estancia Valley, Lower Rio Grande Valley, Middle Rio
Grande Valley including the Albuquerque Metro Area, Sandia and
Manzano Mountains including Edgewood, South Central Highlands, South
Central Mountains and Upper Tularosa Valley. In east central New
Mexico, Curry County, De Baca County, Guadalupe County, Quay County
and Roosevelt County. In north central New Mexico, Glorieta Mesa
Including Glorieta Pass and Santa Fe Metro Area. In northeast New
Mexico, Eastern San Miguel County, Harding County and Northeast
Highlands. In southeast New Mexico, Chaves County Plains and
Southwest Chaves County.

The flooding threat has ended. Therefore, the Flood Watch will expire
at 6 AM MDT early this morning.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast New Mexico,
  including the following areas, in north central New Mexico, Sangre
  de Cristo Mountains, Espanola Valley, Far Northwest Highlands,
  Jemez Mountains, Tusas Mountains Including Chama and the Upper Rio
  Grande Valley. In northeast New Mexico, Far Northeast Highlands,
  Johnson and Bartlett Mesas Including Raton Pass and Union County.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
  in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
  flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - A near-record to record surge of moisture combined with a storm
    system moving across northern New Mexico will continue to bring
    numerous showers and isolated thunderstorms with moderate to
    heavy rainfall. Combined with already rain-soaked soil, there is
    a moderate to high risk of flooding.
  - Low-lying, poorly drained, and/or urban areas will be most
    susceptible to flooding. Rivers, arroyos and streams will see
    rises with fast flows. Minor flooding is possible along rivers.
    Recent burn scars may see flash flooding, including the Frijoles
    burn scar.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
to take action should flooding develop.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
