...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM MDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of east-central and southeast New Mexico,
  including the following areas, in central New Mexico, Eastern
  Lincoln County and South Central Mountains. In east central New
  Mexico, Quay, Curry, Roosevelt, and De Baca Counties. In southeast
  New Mexico, Chaves County Plains and Southwest Chaves County.

* WHEN...Until 3 AM MDT Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding may occur
  in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be
  flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - A swath of heavy rain over the past 24 hours over southeast New
    Mexico will elevate the risk for any new storms over the area to
    produce flash flooding through this evening.
  - Rapid runoff and flash flooding will be most likely in complex
    terrain, below recent burn scars, low-lying areas, urban areas,
    normally dry arroyos, near rivers and streams, and in locations
    where the ground is already saturated from recent heavy rainfall.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. Never drive through flood
waters. Most flash flood deaths occur in automobiles.
