...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 1230 AM MDT SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Portions of east central and southeast New Mexico,
  including the following counties, in east central New Mexico,
  central Roosevelt. In southeast New Mexico, northeastern Chaves.

* WHEN...Until 1230 AM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 936 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream
    flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
  - These most recent rains are already on top of 1 to 2 inches
    that fell earlier this afternoon and evening. Soils should be
    soaked allowing for easy ponding and minor flooding concerns.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Portales, Elida, Kenna, Elkins, Arch and Floyd.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
