555 FNUS55 KABQ 161959 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 159 PM MDT Mon Jun 16 2025 ...RED FLAG WARNING FOR PORTIONS OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL NEW MEXICO ON TUESDAY FROM 12PM TO 9PM MDT DUE TO STRONG WINDS, VERY LOW HUMIDITY, AND HIGH FIRE DANGER... .DISCUSSION... Very dry conditions will continue through tomorrow in western New Mexico where there will be up to fifteen hours of single digit relative humidity. West winds will strengthen tomorrow, creating a few hours of critical fire weather conditions in much of central and western New Mexico where fuels are rapidly drying. Lightning strikes in the southwest mountains late last week may have started fires that could spread when winds strengthen tomorrow as well. A backdoor front will replenish moisture across eastern New Mexico Wednesday, but dry conditions will continue to persist through the end of the week in western areas. Rain chances increase in central and eastern New Mexico over the weekend into the early part of the following week. ................................................................
