Numerous showers and storms are expected around the region today. Locally heavy rainfall rates may produce flash flooding, particularly over recent burn scars and across the northwest. In addition, a few storms may produce damaging wind gusts and large hail west of the Rio Grande Valley this afternoon and evening. Precipitation decreases in coverage tomorrow, with scattered showers and storms favoring the western high terrain. Moisture will continue to recycle Sunday through the middle of the week, with scattered storm chances each afternoon. Temperatures will rise early next week, increasing the risk of heat-related illness. Precipitation chances may trend up late next week as moisture surges in from the east.
