With rich Gulf moisture in place a monsoon weather pattern has commenced with daily rounds of showers and thunderstorms expected for the next seven days. The most widespread precipitation will be today through Friday, when some thunderstorms may produce locally heavy rainfall. South and southeast wind gusts from 40 to 50 mph will also be a concern over western, central, and northeast areas today and this evening. After below high temperatures today and Friday readings will warm this weekend into early next week, and rain amounts will trend lighter as daily rounds of scattered showers and thunderstorms favor central and western areas.
