Elevated to near critical fire weather conditions remain on tap today for areas along and west of the Rio Grande Valley. Winds will not be as strong as yesterday, but breezy conditions will develop with gusts in the 25 to 30 mph range. Several hours of single digit relative humidity values will again plague the area. Meanwhile, monsoon moisture will shift northward across eastern NM, increasing thunderstorm chances. The monsoon plume will shift westward to the Central Mountain Chain on Monday, then across all but far northwest areas on Tuesday. Widespread showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy rainfall, are on tap. Widespread storms will continue on Wednesday, then storm coverage will trend down slightly for Thursday and Friday, though the potential for heavy rainfall will persist. ................................................................
