Showers and thunderstorms across portions of eastern New Mexico will continue, diminishing in the early overnight hours. Markedly drier air will take hold Sunday, bringing widespread single digit relative humidity, some of which will persist for greater than 6 hours. West to southwest winds will increase, creating elevated to near-critical fire weather conditions areawide. Critical fire weather conditions will be possible across the northeast highlands and plains, however, recent rainfall will limit fuel susceptibility. Winds relax on Monday and Tuesday but dry conditions will persist. A backdoor front will descend into the eastern plains Wednesday and precipitation chances will increase through the end of the week.
