296 FNUS55 KABQ 152132 FWFABQ Fire Weather Planning Forecast for North and Central New Mexico National Weather Service Albuquerque NM 332 PM MDT Sun Jun 15 2025 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH FOR WEST CENTRAL NEW MEXICO TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND EVENING DUE TO STRONG WINDS, LOW HUMIDITY, AND VERY HIGH FIRE DANGER... .DISCUSSION... Virga, or evaporating rainfall, and dry thunderstorms are struggling to develop on the southwestern mountains today with a few strong to severe storms ongoing in the eastern plains. Meanwhile, hot temperatures are also prevailing across all areas with very low humidity persisting in western areas of the state. Light to moderate westerly breezes will develop Monday, bringing in drier air that will lead to fewer storms over the southwestern mountains and also along and just east of the central mountain chain. An upper level disturbance will cross the Rockies on Tuesday, leading to breezy to windy conditions along with hot temperatures, and very low humidity of 5 to 10 percent. This will introduce a higher risk of critical fire weather, especially for west central New Mexico Tuesday where a Fire Weather Watch is in effect. Winds will be lighter on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, and while hot and mostly dry conditions will prevail, there will be low chances for a few dry thunderstorms. ................................................................
