The coverage of showers and thunderstorms with heavy rainfall will continue increasing over the region through late this week. There may still be new fire starts from lightning strikes in dry fuels, however the risk will decrease as the week progresses. Locally heavy rainfall amounts greater than 1" are possible along with an increasing risk of flash flooding on area burn scars. Overnight humidity recoveries will be excellent in many areas by the end of the week along with temperatures closer to normal for mid August. ................................................................
