URGENT - FIRE WEATHER MESSAGE
National Weather Service Albuquerque NM
942 AM MDT Tue Jun 17 2025

...RED FLAG WARNING FOR PORTIONS OF WESTERN AND CENTRAL NEW
MEXICO TODAY FROM 12PM TO 9PM MDT DUE TO STRONG WINDS, VERY LOW
HUMIDITY, AND HIGH FIRE DANGER...

.Very low humidity will combine with breezy to locally windy west
winds and dry fuels to create high fire danger in western and
central New Mexico this afternoon. Six to sixteen hours of single
digit relative humidity will also contribute to the drying of
fuels. Numerous lightning strikes occurred over the southwestern
mountains last Friday so the increased winds may spread recent
fire starts. This along with ongoing wildfires is posing higher
risk for rapid fire spread.
