.KEY MESSAGES...

- Light rain and drizzle will continue before slowly diminishing
over central SD this afternoon. Additional rainfall amounts will be
varied, ranging from a few hundredths across north central SD to
around an inch over far northeast SD and into west central MN.

- Winds out of the north will continue to gust between 35 and 45
mph, highest across south central SD. Winds will diminish west to
east this evening into the overnight hours before increasing again
Wednesday afternoon to between 30 and 35 mph.

As of 12:30 AM CST, temperatures across the area are in the upper
40s to low 50s with winds out of the north at 15 to 20 mph, gusting
between 25 and 35 mph with some locally higher wind gusts noted
around Pierre. These gusts are expected to last through the day.
Portions of central SD may see some wind gusts as high as 45 mph
through the morning. Rain showers will also continue through most
of the day today and through most of Wednesday for northeast SD
and west central MN. Accumulations across northeast SD have ranged
between 1 and 3 inches already, highest across east central SD,
particularly around the Watertown area. The chance of an
additional inch of accumulation or more through Wednesday is
around 50 to 70% mainly east of the James River and highest along
I-29.

Temperatures through the period will be closer to average than the
last week or so with highs in the 40s east of the Missouri River and
in the low 50s west. Models are starting to show a warm up back into
the mid to upper 50s across the entire area for next weekend into
the beginning of next work week. Winds Wednesday afternoon behind
the low are expected to gust between 30 and 35 mph across the
majority of the forecast area. These gusts will die off during the
evening and into the overnight except for on the eastern slope of
the Prairie Coteau of northeast SD.
