.UPDATE...
Issued at 1045 AM CDT Thu Oct 1 2026

Currently tracking some sprinkles or light rain showers coming
out of western SD into our far west river zones. Earlier this
morning, added low PoPs for rain showers through the rest of
the morning. May need to extend this out a bit farther if
reflectivity on radar persists. Only expect sprinkles to hit
and miss brief showers at best from whatever reaches our western
zones. Otherwise, no other updates planned at this time for the
remainder of the today period.

.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 109 AM CDT Thu Oct 1 2026

As of 1 AM CDT, temperatures around the area are in the upper 50s to
low 60s as much colder air has moved in behind a cold front. Winds
are out of the north and generally less than 15 mph. Drier weather
today and Friday as high pressure becomes dominant through the end
of the work week.

The precipitation chances for Saturday have pretty much disappeared.
The low has moved north, but also there isn`t much moisture at all.
Temperatures today, Friday, and Sunday are expected to be cooler,
highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Saturday and the beginning of
next week will be 5 to 10 degrees above average. Winds Friday on the
backside of the high will gust 30 to near 40 mph west of the
Missouri River, and 30-35 mph between the Missouri River and US 281.
These stronger winds are expected to continue into the evening.
Winds will increase around the Prairie Coteau through the morning
hours. Winds Monday will once again gust 30-35 mph across central
SD, spreading east to the James River.
