.DISCUSSION...
As the front passes through this afternoon and evening, winds will
turn to become west to northwesterly. Gusts will increase across
central SD this afternoon and evening, ranging from 35 to 55 mph.
These strong winds will filter eastward across northeastern SD
tonight through early Tuesday morning with gusts up to 45 mph, again
highest over north central SD and along the eastern slopes of the
Sisseton Hills. As high pressure moves in Tuesday, winds will
diminish through the day.
The strong winds combined with afternoon humidity at and below 40
percent results in Grassland Fire Danger being in the High to Very
High category for counties along and west of the Missouri River.
Less winds and increased humidity of 40%+ will decrease Grassland
Fire Danger to the Low to Moderate category Tuesday.
