.DISCUSSION...

Dry conditions today and Friday as high pressure builds into the
area. Winds will be out of the north to northwest today behind a
cold front that went through overnight, expect gusts up to 25 mph.
Southerly winds will return Friday mainly west of US 281, with gusts
of 30 to near 40 mph, highest over south central SD. These are
expected to continue into the evening hours. Minimum relative
humidity values will generally be in the 30-45 both today and Friday.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low.  Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.


The outlook for Friday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the high category.
