.DISCUSSION...

Some slow moving showers and thunderstorms continue over central SD
but are expected to move out of the area by late morning. The rest
of the day will be dry with high temperatures in the upper 70s to
low 80s and afternoon humidity values in the 35 to 45 percent range.
Winds will be out of the west to northwest between 5 and 10 mph and
gusts generally less than 15 mph.

We are expecting a heatwave to develop Thursday that will persist
through most of Sunday. Temperatures will increase well into the
90s. The accompanying humidity will push heat index values well into
the 90s and possibly up to around 100 for Saturday.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low. Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Juneteenth afternoon...The grassland fire danger
index will reach the low category.
