.DISCUSSION...

Snow will continue to fall through the daytime hours today but
gradually taper off from west to east through the afternoon and early
evening. Winds will become more north to northwesterly with time and
increase throughout the day. Gusts will range between 20-35 mph with
the strongest winds expected across parts of central and south
central South Dakota. This will lead to blowing and drifting snow
and locally reduced visibility at times. Winds become more light
tonight as high pressure builds in. Dry but very cold conditions can
be expected for the remainder of the weekend into early next week.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low. Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Sunday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
