Low to Moderate Grassland Fire Danger is expected today, with the main fire weather concern being gusty southerly winds. At their peak this afternoon, wind gusts are expected to reach up to 25 to 35 miles per hour. Otherwise, chances for thunderstorms return this evening over central and north central South Dakota. These storms may produce cloud to ground lightning, and some may turn severe, producing wind gusts of 60 miles per hour. Chances for storms, some of which may produce severe wind gusts of 60 miles per hour as well as cloud to ground lightning, continue on Wednesday and Thursday. Low Grassland Fire Danger is expected through that time frame, in part due to humidity not expected to drop below 40 percent from today through Thursday.
