987 FNUS63 KABR 280741 RFDABR Rangeland Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service Aberdeen SD 241 AM CDT Tue Jul 28 2026 .DISCUSSION... Above normal temperatures continue once again today, with highs reaching the low to mid-90s over the forecast area. Highest temperatures (and subsequently lowest humidity values) are over north central South Dakota. Light and variable winds this morning will become southerly by the afternoon, gusting up to 20 miles per hour. Grassland Fire Danger will reach the Moderate category over parts of central and north central South Dakota this afternoon. After a couple of hours of light and variable winds in the early morning hours Wednesday, winds once again become southerly shortly after sunrise Wednesday. Gusts up to 20 to 30 miles per hour will be possible by the afternoon Wednesday. Humidity will once again drop between 30 and 45 percent over the forecast area Wednesday afternoon, with parts of north central South Dakota seeing humidity as low as 20 to 30 percent. These dry conditions combined with the southerly wind gusts will push the Grassland Fire Danger Index up to the High category over Corson and Dewey counties. Moderate Grassland Fire Danger will be in place over the rest of north central and central South Dakota as well.
