Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD
1112 AM CDT Sat Jun 6 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Min RH this afternoon of 25 to 35 percent will lead to high
grassland fire danger in portions of north central SD as south to
southeast winds increase and gust 35 to 40 mph.

Dewpoints increase east of the Missouri River on Sunday to above 40
percent. Highs in the 90s along and west of the Missouri on Sunday
will cause min RH to fall to 30 to 35 percent. South to southeast
winds remain breezy on Sunday with gusts of 35 to 45 mph west of the
Coteau. There is a slight chance (level 2 of 5) of severe
thunderstorms developing across central SD by late afternoon on
Sunday with a marginal risk (1 of 5) as far east as the Sisseton
Hills. Strong winds and large hail will be the main risks.

is high potential for a fire to spread. Outdoor burning should be
restricted to early morning or evening hours when wind speeds are
usually lower and the relative humidity is higher.

The outlook for Sunday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the moderate category.
