901 FNUS63 KABR 120721 RFDABR Rangeland Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service Aberdeen SD 221 AM CDT Sat Sep 12 2026 .DISCUSSION... Cooler temperatures take hold today, with highs in the 60s to low 70s expected across the forecast area. The cooler temperatures will help keep afternoon humidity in the 30 to 45 percent range this afternoon. Winds will continue to be out of the northwest through this afternoon, gusting up to 15 to 25 miles per hour (increasing from west to east). Grassland Fire Danger remains at Low over most of the area, with some counties west of the Missouri River seeing Moderate Grassland Fire Danger. This evening, winds will turn easterly, then veer further to the southeast by Sunday afternoon. Southeasterly winds will then increase along and west of the Missouri River, Gusting up to 20 to 35 miles per hour. Afternoon humidity on Sunday will remain above 45 percent, but the stronger winds will be enough to push the Grassland Fire Danger Index up to High for Jones, Stanley, and Dewey Counties. Elsewhere, Grassland Fire Danger remains at Low to Moderate. Marginal weather conditions or lowering moisture content of grasses, and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that there is some potential for a fire to spread. Any outdoor burning should be closely monitored.
