Rangeland Fire Danger Statement
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD
333 AM CDT Wed Jun 25 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Showers and thunderstorms will develop and overspread the area today
and likely continue through the end of the day and into Thursday
before ending west to east during the afternoon. Extensive cloud
cover will lead to cooler temperatures with daytime readings in the
upper 60s to mid 70s. All this will help to keep minimum relative
humidity values between 60-80 percent. A persistent east to
northeast wind will continue today before briefly switching to the
north-northeast on Thursday.

Drier conditions prevail from the second half of the day Thursday
through most of the daytime hours on Friday before more storms
return by Friday afternoon and evening. Minimum relative humidity
values on Thursday will be lowest across the Missouri Valley with
readings between 50 to 60 percent.

...LOW FIRE DANGER...

Favorable weather conditions or a high moisture content of grasses,
and other dry organic material on the ground, indicate that the
probability of a fast moving fire is low. Outdoor burning under
these conditions can usually be performed with reasonable safety
precautions, but should be monitored.

The outlook for Thursday afternoon...The grassland fire danger index
will reach the low category.
