473 FNUS63 KABR 110713 RFDABR Rangeland Fire Danger Statement National Weather Service Aberdeen SD 213 AM CDT Mon May 11 2026 .DISCUSSION... Exiting high pressure and nearing low pressure from the west will result in increasing winds out of the south today. Temperatures will rise in the 70s east of the James River, and into the 80s west of the James River. Increasing winds gusting 30 to near 40 mph, hot, and dry conditions, will result in high to very high Grassland Fire Danger Index values this afternoon, especially west of the James River. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect this afternoon for portions of south central South Dakota. Elevated fire weather concerns are expected Tuesday and Thursday, with wind gusts of 35 to 45 mph, with a few locations gusting to around 50 mph. These strong winds will be out of the northwest on Tuesday, and out of the south on Thursday. Minimum relative humidity much of the week will be 15 to 30%, with mainly dry weather continuing.
