Unique conditions exist where thunderstorms have developed
underneath cold air aloft. This set up can be conducive to
funnels forming out of small showers and thunderstorms. These
types of funnels are usually short lived and rarely touch the
ground. However, in the rare case one does touch the ground, it
is best to seek shelter in a sturdy building if you spot one.
