Radio Weather Synopsis
National Weather Service Aberdeen SD
432 AM CST Tue Dec 9 2025 /332 AM MST Tue Dec 9 2025/

Mild air over the region will persist today, before a strong cold
front sweeps through the region, turning winds northwest and
increasing them to 30 to 45 mph with gusts from 50 to 65 mph. Much
colder air will move down out of Canada for Wednesday. While the warm
air is in place today, rain will overspread the listening area.
Initially, some of the rain is expected to fall as freezing rain
before surface temperatures warm above the freezing mark. Later
tonight, while northwest winds are still rather strong, light falling
snow may slide down into northeast South Dakota and west central
Minnesota, potentially creating localized areas of significant
blowing snow and reduced visibility, mainly up on the higher terrain
areas of the Prairie Coteau.

High temperatures today are expected to top out in the 30s and 40s
throughout northeast South Dakota and west central Minnesota, with
high temperatures in the 40s and 50s across central and north central
South Dakota. Low temperatures will be falling through the teens and
20s throughout the region.
