Spot Forecast for F/V Sea Urn Grounging...NOAA OR&R
National Weather Service Anchorage AK
157 PM AKDT Fri Sep 5 2025

Forecast is based on forecast start time of 1400 AKDT on September 05.
.DISCUSSION...

Bottom line: A front will bring rain and stronger winds through
much of Saturday. Conditions improve through Sunday and Monday.

Weather overview from the grounding site up into Kitoi Bay: The
forecast looks on track, with few changes since yesterday. Light
winds will begin increasing Saturday morning, peaking at 20-25 kt
around midnight Saturday night. South to southeasterly winds
remain elevated at around 10-15 kt through Sunday evening before
becoming northwesterly below 10 kt by Monday morning. Rain is
likely on Saturday morning, then isolated to scattered showers
linger through early next week.

Uncertainty/forecast confidence: Medium to high confidence that
wave heights in the area will be as high as 5-6 feet by Saturday
evening, but confidence is low with whether these higher waves
will reach Kitoi Bay and the hatchery. Additionally, confidence is
high that ceilings and visibility will remain VFR through late
tonight, though confidence is lower with the timing of a drop to
MVFR or even IFR conditions.
