...COLD WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Very cold temperatures and wind chills of 40 to 50 below
  zero.

* WHERE...Copper River Basin and Thompson Pass.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Friday.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 50 below zero
  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes.
  Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these
  temperatures.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures below -40F in the
  Copper River Basin are expected through Friday morning, warming to
  the -10s and -20s when cloud cover builds in. Gusty winds through
  valleys and passes, such as Mentasta Pass and Thompson Pass, will
  lead to dangerously cold wind chills as low as 50 below zero.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution while outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and
gloves. Be sure to have an emergency kit in your car and appropriate
cold weather clothing and blankets in case your car breaks down.
