...FLOOD WATCH FOR A GLACIER-DAMMED LAKE OUTBURST IS CANCELLED...

The Flood Watch is cancelled for Skilak Lake and the Middle Kenai
River near Skilak Lake and the Kenai River downstream of Skilak Lake.

A glacial dam release is no longer expected to pose an immediate
threat. Confidence has increased in that the recent rise in the
Kenai River is not due to the release of the Skilak Glacier Dammed
Lake.

The Skilak Glacier Dammed Lake is located in the Harding Ice Field
above the Skilak River. The release of this lake typically causes a
1-4 foot rise in the Kenai River below Skilak Lake. The lake
typically releases every two years in the late fall; however, has
the potential for an annual release. The lake last released on
2023-09-07.
