...EXTREME VESSEL ICING POSSIBLE FROM NORTH AND WEST OF NUNIVAK
ISLAND TO CAPE NEWENHAM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH MONDAY
AFTERNOON...

Northeasterly winds in combination with Arctic Air surging south
across the Bering Sea is likely to lead to extreme vessel icing
at rates of 4 cm per hour or greater.

As colder air filters in from the Arctic over the weekend,
northerly winds will intensify across the eastern Bering Sea.
These factors will cause extreme freezing spray to spread south
and west from the Kuskokwim Delta. Heavy to extreme freezing spray
will extend from Cape Newenham to north and west of Nunivak
Island beginning Saturday morning. Extreme freezing spray is also
possible out of Kvichak Bay as far west as Cape Constantine. Winds
diminish on Monday, which should cause icing rates to decrease by
Monday afternoon.

Operating a vessel in heavy to extreme freezing spray is
hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic
components inoperable. Rapid ice accretion on decks and
superstructures may result in catastrophic loss of stability.
