.SYNOPSIS...
Temps gradually fall over the entire Mainland through the
remainder of the week. Light snow showers will primarily impact
the coastal region as well as southeast Interior and Alaska Range,
through Tue evening. Thereafter, gradual drying and quieter
weather will move in. Thursday morning and Friday morning look to
be the coldest as valley temps over the Interior plummet back into
the -20 F range. A series of lows will impact the west coast late
Thursday night and into the weekend.

.DISCUSSION...

Key Weather Messages and Summaries:

Central and Eastern Interior...

-  Chance for snow showers increase over the Interior on Tuesday
   as some moisture makes it way into the Interior. Accumulations
   around 1 to 3 inches possible over the E Interior.

-  High pressure and cooling temps Tue night through Wed night.
   Overnight lows are back below zero Tue night through Thursday
   night for Interior valleys. Valley locations could see -20 to
   -30 F.


West Coast and Western Interior...

- Snow squalls and blowing snow as a front moves over Saint
  Lawrence Island through Wed night. Some snow squalls will be
  heavy at times.

- Colder high pressure with local valley fog possible Wed morning
  and Thu morning.

- A front brings snow and blowing snow to the YK Delta and Seward
  Peninsula Thu night and Friday with easterly offshore winds to
  gale force. Significant blowing snow is possible over the YK
  Delta. See Special Weather Statement for more details.

North Slope and Brooks Range...

- Snow showers and west-southwest winds impact the Arctic Coast
  with local blowing snow and gusty west winds to 30 mph over the
  E Arctic coastline. Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect
  for Tue and Tue night for Kaktovik.

- Southwest winds to 25 to 30 mph over the W Arctic coast from
  Point Hope to Wainright will cause minor blowing snow through
  tonight.

Forcast Confidence and Extended Forecast Days 4-7...Upper level
flow turns more southwestly on Tuesday and the upper level low
over the Seward Penn will track Northeast over the Brooks Range
Tuesday and Wed. Snow could develop over the Interior as some
moisture pushes across the area from the southwest. Colder air
will filter back into the Interior through the week as ridging
builds over the Interior. Chinook flow could return to the
Interior with warmer temps and windy conditions over the Alaska
Range for next weekend. A series of lows will bring snow and
blowing snow and some mixed precipitation to the west coast
Late Thursday night and into the weekend.

Coastal Hazard Potential Days 3 and 4...Another low and front will
push across the Bering bringing Gale-Force winds to the west coast.
