...COASTAL FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 AM AKDT
THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Water levels rising 4 to 6 feet above the normal high
  tide line in Nome, 6 to 8 feet in Golovin.

* WHERE...Southern Seward Peninsula Coast.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM AKDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Water levels up to 6 feet above the normal high tide
  line may put waves over the Nome-Council Road between mile 23
  and 24. The road may flood or wash out or become impassable, but
  usually that happens with higher water levels. The Belmont
  Subdivision area in Nome will begin to flood once water levels
  reach 5 to 6 feet. West Beach of Nome will see coastal flooding
  when the heights reach 6 feet. Debris from wave runup is
  expected to impact Front Street. Water may cut off access
  between the tarmac and airport terminal. In Golovin, coastal
  flooding may affect many residences, the school, power plant,
  tank farm, store and clinic. The highest water levels will be
  over the course of several high tides ranging from Wednesday
  morning through Thursday morning. Winds will be from the west-
  southwest throughout the event.

FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Water levels rising 5 to 7 feet above the normal high
  tide line.

* WHERE...Western Arctic Coast.

* WHEN...Until 4 AM AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Water levels in Point Hope will rise 5 to 7 feet above
  the normal high tide line beginning Wednesday morning. Peak
  water levels will arrive late Wednesday evening into Thursday
  morning (6 PM to 6 AM) then receed gradually through Thursday
  night/Friday morning. Water levels won`t return to near normal
  until Friday afternoon at the earliest. This rise is being
  caused by west-northwest winds around 25 to 35 mph. At Point
  Lay, flooding is not expected, however significant erosion is
  likely. At Point Hope, significant erosion of the sea wall from
  the north and erosion at the airport is likely. Flooding of the
  airport on the north side is likely. Berms on the south side
  will likely see erosion, but flooding there is not likely.

* WHAT...Water levels rising 4 to 6 feet above the normal high
  tide line.

* WHERE...Northwest Arctic Coast.

* WHEN...Until 4 AM AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Water levels in Wainwright will rise 4 to 6 feet above
  the normal high tide line beginning Wednesday afternoon. Peak
  water levels will arrive late Wednesday night into Thursday
  morning (11 PM to 6 AM) then receed gradually through Thursday
  night/Friday morning. Water levels won`t return to near normal
  until Friday afternoon at the earliest. This rise is being
  caused by west-northwest winds around 25 to 35 mph. Extensive
  erosion of the bluff may occur. Numerous roads may be closed.
  Low lying property including homes, businesses, and some
  critical infrastructure may be inundated.

  tide line.

* WHERE...Northern Arctic Coast.

* WHEN...Until 4 AM AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Water levels in Utqiagvik/Point Barrow will rise 3 to
  4 feet above the normal high tide line beginning Wednesday
  afternoon. Peak water levels will arrive late Wednesday night
  into Thursday morning (1 AM to 5 AM) then receed gradually
  through Thursday night. Water levels won`t return to near normal
  until Friday. This rise is being caused by west- northwest winds
  around 25 to 35 mph. Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying
  property including homes, businesses, and some critical
  infrastructure will be inundated. Significant shoreline erosion
  will occur.

FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Water levels rising 5 to 7 feet above the normal high
  tide line.

* WHERE...Kivalina and Red Dog Dock.

* WHEN...Until 4 AM AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Water levels as high as 7 feet can produce coastal
  flooding and significant erosion, especially on the north end of
  Kivalina. West-southwest winds on Wednesday, then northwest on
  Thursday, sustained around 25 to 40 mph have been known to cause
  damage and coastal flooding in the Village of Kivalina in the
  past. The school and the tank farms in Kivalina are currently at
  risk of being impacted due to coastal flooding. Water will
  likely rise above the level of the seawall and many buildings
  and streets will flood. The Native Store, Friends Church, and
  the water pump station will be inundated. McQueen School and
  Alaska Village Electric may flood. Few roads will be left
  passable in anything other than a boat.

* WHAT...Water levels rising 6 to 8 feet above the normal high
  tide line. This will likely surpass last October`s flooding
  event.

* WHERE...Baldwin Peninsula.

* WHEN...Until 4 AM AKDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...Coastal flooding is occurring with water levels as
  high as 8 feet above the normal high tide line. This will likely
  surpass last October`s flooding event. The highest water levels
  are expected to be from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday
  afternoon (4 PM to 4 PM). The winds will initially come from
  from the southwest Tuesday evening through Thursday morning,
  then shift northwest and weaken through Friday morning. The
  sewage lagoon is at risk of flooding, the Post Office, Nulagvik
  Hotel, as well as various restaurants and markets are
  susceptible to coastal flooding. The area near the Teacher
  Housing will be inundated. Water will approach houses and tents
  at the North Tent City fish camp. Coastal flooding in the city
  is possible if water levels reach 9 feet above the normal high
  tide line.

THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Water levels rising 5 to 6 feet above the normal high
  tide line.

* WHERE...Shishmaref.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM AKDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Shishmaref will have several high tides to go through
  between Wednesday and Thursday. Water levels initially rise from
  the lagoon side on Wednesday, the winds shift northwest on
  Thursday leading to water approaching from the north. The
  highest water is expected Wednesday afternoon. Significant
  shoreline erosion will occur. The airstrip will likely be
  closed. The sanitation road may washout. Water will inundate
  many buildings on the inlet side of town including the clinic,
  library, and water treatment plant. Wave run-up from the coast
  will inundate buildings near the sewage lagoon. At Diomede,
  large waves and wave runup will cause erosion and may wash items
  away. Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property including
  homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure will be
  inundated.

EVENING...

* WHAT...Water levels rising 3 to 6 feet above the normal high
  tide line.

* WHERE...Yukon Delta Coast.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM AKDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Water levels up to 6 feet will likely inundate most,
  if not all of Nunam Iqua, and the drinking water source may be
  affected. Water will back up in the river at Kotlik and flooding
  will occur around houses in low- lying areas. Airstrip use or
  access may be threatened along with the access road. Scammon Bay
  will be impacted as water in the Kun River backs up and floods
  the west end of the runway and adjacent low lying areas. Hooper
  Bay fuel storage may be inundated and the road to the airport
  may be partially submerged. Airstrip use or access may be
  cutoff. Water is likely to reach into the village. Flooding is
  possible upstream on the Yukon River to Mountain Village with
  significant flooding at Emmonak and Alakanuk possible. Water may
  also back up the Ninglikfak River bringing high water to
  Chevak. Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property
  including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure
  will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion will occur.

* WHAT...Water levels rising 1 to 2 feet at Savoonga and 2 to 5
  feet at Gambell above the normal high tide line.

* WHERE...St Lawrence Island.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM AKDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Water levels up to 5 feet above the normal high tide
  line may impact the dump and bring water towards Gambell on the
  west side. This will also threaten the FAA equipment, runway,
  and the community boat storage. Significant erosion is likely to
  occur as well. Numerous roads may be closed. Low lying property
  including homes, businesses, and some critical infrastructure
  will be inundated. Some shoreline erosion will occur.

THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Water levels rising 7 to 10 feet above the normal high
  tide line for Koyuk, 5 to 8 feet above the normal high tide line
  for Shaktoolik, 4 to 7 feet above the normal high tide line for
  Unalakleet, 4 to 6 feet above the normal high tide line for St.
  Michael, and 4 to 6 feet above the normal high tide line for
  Stebbins.

* WHERE...Eastern Norton Sound and Nulato Hills.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM AKDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding is not anticipated in Koyuk or Elim though
  some shoreline erosion will occur. From Shaktoolik to Stebbins,
  a south/southwest wind will result in 4 to 8 feet of water level
  rise, mainly Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. In
  Shaktoolik, the coastal flooding may impact some residences,
  tank farms, the water pump house, and the airport if it gets to
  10 feet. Significant shoreline erosion will occur. In Stebbins,
  the north side near the shore, as well as the Native Store Fuel
  Tanks may be impacted. In Unalakleet, the United utilities and
  AT&T Alascom sites near Beach Rd may flood. The AC Store and
  other buildings close to the riverbank will likely flood as
  well.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be
closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of

...COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM AKDT
THURSDAY...

* WHAT...Water levels rising 4 to 5 feet above the normal high
  tide line for Wales, 3 to 4 feet above the normal highest tide
  line for Diomede, and 5 to 6 feet above the normal highest
  tide line for Brevig Mission and Teller.

* WHERE...Bering Strait Coast.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM AKDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Water in the lagoon at Brevig Mission may fill and can
  surround some buildings. Water may flood Port Clarence Road. In
  Teller, portions of Front Ave may be flooded, water may approach
  the fuel pump, and air strip access may be threatened. Tin City
  post office may flood and water may surround the fuel storage
  tanks. At Wales, buildings near the Naval Station Rd bridge
  including the post office may flood. High water in village creek
  will approach the winter trail to Tin City. Water will run high
  up on the beach and may inundate the fuel storage tank.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of
