.DISCUSSION....Dry and windy conditions persist this afternoon with gusts to
20 mph across much of the Tanana Valley along with RH dropping into the teens.
A significant change will happen Monday as a front from the Bering Sea moves
inland, bringing a stable and more moist airmass along with chances for wetting
rain, especially south of Fairbanks. Snow is even possible south of Donnelly and
south of Denali Park along the Richardson and Parks Highways. Expect breezy NE
winds on Monday ahead of the front, save for a brief period of southerly gap winds
through Alaska Range passes Monday morning. Due to the stable nature of the front,
no thunderstorms are expected. Uncertainty remains if precip will reach Fairbanks,
though the most likely scenario looks similar to what it looked like yesterday in
that Fairbanks will see a brief period of light rain overnight Monday night into
Tuesday, but amounts will not add up to a wetting rain. A warming and drying
trend will begin again on Wednesday as weak ridging builds over the area.
