...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 931, 932,
933, 934, 938, 939, 940, 941, 942, 943, 944, 945 AND 946...
.DISCUSSION...The Red Flag Warning for the N Interior zones including
the Yukon Flats continues until late this evening (Tue) as temps
will once again be into the mid to upper 80s with min RH around
19 to 24 %. E winds around 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph
are possible. Red flag warnings have also been issued for the
Middle/Lower Tanana Valley for high lightning potential Wednesday
afternoon and night.
The other main focus over the next several days will be active wet
thunderstorms, with a widespread arc of widely scattered t-storms
today and across the S Interior with an area of scattered thunder
possible over the Lower Tanana Valley and Lake Minchumina. More widely
scattered wet thunder with an area of scattered thunderstorms is
expected on Wed across parts of the Tanana Valley and hills
around Fairbanks. Interior wet thunderstorms remain quite active
into Thu and even Fri. Temps remain in the 80s but a trending down
during the latter half of the week as the ridge slowly weakens
into the weekend.
