.DISCUSSION...
Scattered wet thunderstorms are already active from the Upper
Koyukuk Valley east through the Yukon Flats and into northern
portions of Fortymile Country this afternoon and will continue
producing frequent lightning into the evening hours. Elsewhere,
isolated to widely scattered wet thunderstorms will continue to
develop through this evening. Expect another round of widely
scattered wet afternoon/evening thunderstorms across the Central
and Eastern Interior on Wednesday and Thursday as well. Afternoon
RHs in the 25 to 35 percent range will increase from the White
Mountains southward on Thursday as a series of shortwave troughs
bring increased moisture. This will also lead to moderate chances
for wetting rain in these areas. Zones closer to the Brooks Range
remain drier on Thursday while winds shift out of the northeast,
potentially gusting up to 25 mph in the Yukon Flats.
